The ISO-certification

After a thorough reorganization and several audits, Brussels Eye Doctors obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification in July 2006.

This certification was issued by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) (Coventry, United Kingdom).

What is the ISO 9001 standard?

The ISO 9001 standard is part of the series of ISO 9000 standards relating to quality management systems. Just like specifications, it defines a set of requirements for the establishment of a quality management system.

There are already several versions of this standard. The last one was in 2015.

It is based on eight management principles: customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making, and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

In the health care industry, implementing a quality management system according to the ISO 9001:2008 requirements consists of:

Demonstrating the ability to provide consistent service that meets patient and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Aiming to enhance patient satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system.
